Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief

Once in awhile something comes along that is so extraordinary and filled with so much potential that we just have to tell you about it. David Kessler is one of the foremost experts on grief and loss. He has written five bestselling books on grief and co-authored two books with the legendary Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. David released his newest book in the fall of 2019 that he says will “give readers a roadmap to remembering those who have died with more love than pain.”

His newest book is called Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief. Through his many years of training others on how to provide care for those who are grieving, and his own personal journey of grief, including the sudden death of his twenty-one year old son, David has discovered new insights and powerful tools that will help those who are experiencing loss.

So what is so extraordinary, you might ask? David is bringing his knowledge and information about the sixth stage of grief to a city near you! He is currently touring the United States (and later this year will be in the UK and Australia) offering a one day seminar for hospice professionals of all disciplines, as well as counselors and therapists, funeral directors, and bereavement professionals.

Helen and I had the opportunity to speak with David on Saturday, January 11, and he wanted us to share with you about some more exciting news–if you’re a hospice professional, he’s offering a $100 discount when you register online by using discount code “DK100”. Plus, CEU’s will also be offered at no extra charge. This is a win-win-win!

There’s going to be so much information shared at this seminar that hospice professionals can be put into our professional toolboxes. Here are just a few of the things that will be offered.

1. Apply meaning-making principles to help cope with all types of loss. 2. Determine ways to use meaning to help remember loved ones with more love than pain. 3. Use concepts of meaning making to resolve the internal struggle of “why did this happen?” and “why did this happen to me?” 4. Determine why children are often the forgotten grievers and how to help them through their grief. 5. Analyze ways to incorporate meaning to help cope with complicated grief. 6. Utilize non-directive ways to address guilt, shame and stigma associated with grief.

To learn more about the seminar, and when the seminar will be in your local area, or if you’re ready to register, visit David’s website at Grief.com and navigate to the “Events” page. One more thing. David will be at a free book signing event in Dallas, TX on Monday, February 10 at the Interabang Bookstore. To learn about times and locations please visit Interabangbooks.com.

We hope that you will be able to take advantage of this special opportunity to learn how to guide people through life’s worst moments to find meaning after loss. Remember, no matter who you are, or where you are in your hospice journey, you are The Heart of Hospice.
