If you’re searching for information on a care provider in your area, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched a new website that can help. Care Compare contains details about providers of several types of healthcare.
Hospitals
Home Health Agencies
Hospice care
Dialysis providers
Doctors and clinicians
Inpatient rehab facilities
Nursing homes including rehab services
Long-term care hospitals
If you have the time and the ability to choose your provider, it’s always a good idea to “shop”. Take time to check out the types of services the agency provides. Look at their satisfaction survey results. The site also shows Star Ratings for certain types of providers (hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, dialysis facilities). It even comes in a Spanish version.
You can search by city or zip code and/or provider type. It’s easy to use. You’ll find contact information that connects you with phone numbers and addresses. Care Compare provides all of that. It’s a one-stop shopping site that makes it easy.
Studies have shown that people in the U.S. are researching their provider options more than ever, with the number almost doubling in the last three years from 14% to 27% (Deloitte Survey of US Healthcare Consumers).
